Guyana is intensifying preparations to host the Caribbean Shipping Association’s 56th Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition later this year, a landmark event expected to draw more than 400 regional and international delegates and spotlight the country’s growing maritime ambitions.
The preparations were discussed on Wednesday during a meeting between Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues and Chairman of the Shipping Association of Guyana, Komal Singh, along with other association members. Deputy Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Liloutie Mangra, also attended the meeting.

The high-level discussions focused on logistical and strategic preparations for the conference, which will be held in Guyana for the first time from October 25 to 28. Officials described the upcoming event as a significant opportunity to strengthen regional co-operation in the shipping and logistics sector, while advancing dialogue on the future of maritime trade in the Caribbean.
Beyond its technical focus, the conference is also expected to serve as a platform for Guyana to showcase its expanding maritime infrastructure and growing capabilities in logistics and trade facilitation. Government officials see the hosting of the event as further positioning Guyana as an emerging hub for regional connectivity and commerce. The Caribbean Shipping Association meeting is regarded as one of the region’s premier maritime gatherings, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the Caribbean and beyond.
