The Shipping Association of Guyana welcomes the announcement by His Excellency President Dr. Irfaan Ali to establish a Commission of Inquiry (COI) into what is widely regarded as the most tragic marine incident in our nation’s history.
We believe this investigation is an important step toward establishing the facts surrounding this devastating tragedy, providing answers to the affected families, and strengthening maritime safety for the future.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the members of the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Police Force, the Maritime Administration Department, the Civil Defence Commission, volunteers, private operators, and all others who have worked tirelessly throughout the rescue and recovery efforts.
Their dedication, courage, and selfless service during this difficult time have been truly commendable. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident. We continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and we stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this profound national loss.
